May 29, 2010 - Facebook and Youtube, is it worth it?

Sometimes i wonder if Facebook/Youtube/Other forms of surfing the net, is actually worth it. I know i, and some of my friends spend more than the average amount of time spent by a regular person on Facebook and YouTube, and i wonder what they just expect from spending so much time on it. Most of the things they do does not help with networking for their future, it doesn't educate them, it doesn't give them work experience, and it definitely isn't the best way of getting an income.

So why do we do it? Facebook's main purpose was to keep people connected after graduation and help people reconnect with old friends. But all it really does it allow people to "stalk" other people's profiles, trying to learn more about a person whereas they can't in real life cuz they're too shy to talk to them themselves. I see people who are CLOSE, CLOSE friends who don't talk to each other on the phone, e-mail or just by asking them out for lunch or something, but rather choose to publicly display their messages on facebook (probably not knowing that everyone can see waht they're typing), or people in relationships choosing to display who they love by repeatedly sending ridiculously redundant messages back and forth.

I understand how sometimes some people might choose to publicly send something out, because maybe it's an important thing that u might want to congratulate them on, such as getting a job, or winning an award, or saying happy birthday, to saying sorry for some1's loss or even notifying another person about celebrity updates (korean music, har har). But does messages such as "poke, im bored", or messages similar to this, nessecary? Subjective issue... i guess.

This issue also clings onto youtube, but i don't think youtube is as big of a problem then facebook, just time spent on youtube/facebook could definitely be used elsewhere.

Im not going to lie though, a couple weeks before, i was a huge facebook/youtube person. Everyday, at least 5-7 times on facebook and probably the same for youtube, for NO reason at all. But recently because of the other things i have been doing that forces me to not go on as much, (facebook cut down to 3, and only to upload/link to blog/hotel city and youtube to around 3-4 times a day) it has shown me that staying productive and doing stuff that builds on your future or hobbies is so much more...of a rush? It's sort of like, you look back on what you were, and you look where you are now, and you're just disgusted at what you were.

Anyways, it's been almost a full year since i've stoppeds MMORPG (MS and RO, and etc.), and dear god it is so exhilirating, and because im constantly working, i don't miss it at all.

Went downtown with Tai and Celina on the 28th, and the ROM. Very sorry about how long this post is.

May 27, 2010 - Jellyfish is the largest animal on earth. WAT?

So i recently found out that the Lion's Mane Jellyfish is the biggest animal on earth, with the ability to grow even bigger than the blue whale.

REALLY? A JELLYFISH? THE THING THAT SPONGEBOB CATCHES ALL THE TIME?

I don't know, I really want to see one for myself now. But then again...will i survive?

However, I do have a sudden interest in Jellyfish and i feel like buying one in the future could be fun. Too bad even the cheapest jellyfish, which i have to add can EASILY die, costs 100 each.

Woot, so I accumulated enough video ideas to try to post 2 a week and one will be posted Tomorrow (Friday) or on Saturday! This is getting exciting and fun.

But no! i have not forgotten about my photographic past and i was still able to go outside and take some photos around North York. Weather was still so hot today so I barely moved around, all i did was actually stay in the same area as where i live, i barely moved a block.

A different view right? Sort of makes u feel so small when u actually realize how tiny u actually are when u walk past these buildings.

Not much commentary...i really wished i had something else i could do with this photo, maybe change the colour a bit, any suggestions?

I think everyone can notice that i have a huge thing for shots that are similar to this. Like... looking down a road and seeing it dissapear at the end. It's sort of, sad but calming at the same time to know that we're all on a path, and we don't stray far from it because once we do, we get a bit lost in the world.

May 26, 2010 - The Weather is Ridiculous, I'm a GIANT fake, and Youtube

If you're like me living on earth, then you've probably realized that the weather is ridiculously hot today. I mean, even at night it's almost 20+ degrees (26 i think?). And it's not that I mind hot weather, it's just that..dear god, please give us some wind to match the heat.

So apparently we hit a record temperature today (for this day, May 26, or around this time), and it was 32 degrees today and the record was 31.2C... in 1944. 66 FRIGIN YEARS AGO.

Time to amp up the air-conditioning.

Anyways, I photoshopped myself recently (because i still can't get out of the house, damn ankle). And was able to amuse myself with the flawlessness of my skin. Of course, this got old and it got me thinking. Why are we so intent on hiding flaws? I mean, besides the "hollywood presents us with an image that forces us to try to reach the same level", why does hollywood make it so appealing? and why do we suck it all up?

100% of all the magazines we read have people airbrushed and liquified to the extent where sometimes we can't even recognize them nemore (happened to madonna + kelly clarkson), so is this at all healthy?

I cant believe my grandma actually said i looked like gu teen lok (Louis Koo)

no grandma...this dude is too sexy

Anyways, besides another anti-productive day, i was able to do what i wanted to do for.. 1-2 months now and make a video on youtube. Why not right? summer's rolling around the corner and i'm still unemployed, all i need is a camera and some things to talk about.

for the first one, it's just a vlog about a the journey in finding a friend's birthday present, i hope he didn't take us too srsly, THIS IS ALLLL JUST A JOKE JEFFREY.

May 23, 2010 - It Runs in the Family

It's been forever because my camera broke, my ankle broke, and I had to get CS3, just in case you were wondering where I've been.

With my brother's recent purchase of the Olympus ELP-1, or EPL-1? EP-L1? I don't know (even though it's lying right on the table), but this marks probably the most cameras a family of 4 can have (DSLR and Compact wise). We have now 5 cameras, 4 digital and 1 film.

However, this also probably marks the family with the most amount of cameras, but least amount of talent (i keed, i keed).

So I'm wondering, maybe photography does run in the family, may it be simple memorial pictures (which i have already blogged about, I'm just waiting to publish it), to intense, studio type photos. With the recent purchase, i think my dad just might play around with his old camera again (holy crap the body itself costed him $25,000 Hong kong, which was like 5k in Canada back in the day, or more, and then add the lenses... oh dear god...).

Nothing else new just, I'm gonna say that my ankle is not allowing me to get out of the house to take photos [me sho sad :( ], and I'll try to heal ASAP so i can start this thing again.

OH OH OH, My camera magically fixed itself (Magic of Canon Cameras, aren't u jealous you didn't buy one? that is, if you resisted the pull of canon cameras and bought another brand), so yay, awesome. But now im sad, i really wanted to have an excuse to buy the Canon 7D... oh well, i just saved $2000.

Just gonna add that both my dad and brother are TRAITORS, how dare they buy non-Canon cameras, clearly they bought them to poke fun. Also, If my brother sees this, your camera did not get damaged in the taking of this photo, don't worry.
