You always hear of successful people (Not only Celebrities) saying how they all have mottos they stuck onto to enhance their chance at being successful. These all relate to 'trying as hard as you can', 'ignoring negative criticism, embracing positive', 'giving up is not an option', and 'success is not easily given.'
But i realize that sticking to a motto, or even finding a motto that is your own, is very hard to do. There's a huge process of finding the true one. You gotta know your own faults, the obstacles that stand in your way that you need to fix. These can be small such as being on time for important events, being there for friends, or being more responsible. Then find out a general value that can fix up almost all of these problems. Make the general statement and then whip out a thesaurus and make it sound like your a philosopher. Then make sure you have a goal in your head all the time.
The last one seems to be the most important one. You literally have to bring up the motto every time you make a decision. Say you want to waste less time, now every time you turn on the TV, something that seems so automatic and involuntary, you now have to ask yourself if what you're about to watch is clearly worth the 30 or 60 minutes lost in doing something else.
I personally have yet to find a motto that fits me. I wish i could be those 19 year old people who has a goal in life and lives by a motto. I wish i could have the patience and perseverance to tell myself daily that whatever I'm doing helps me 20 or 30 years down the line. I wish i could be the person who people look at and say "damn, he has his life together".
I'm not yet there...
...But I so badly want to be.

i feel the same way man
